Wildlife and Habitats in Scotland

Scotland has a rich and varied natural heritage consisting of plants, animals and their habitats. The Scottish Government has an important role in the conservation of these natural resources and their sustainable use.

This includes dealing with nature conservation issues, biodiversity and the work of the Scottish Biodiversity Forum. It also concerns protected areas, including European sites, and all species issues.

The findings from the trialled use of falcons to deter gulls nesting in Dumfries town centre have been published.

The 10 week trial is part of a series of actions to deal with the problem of urban gulls.
